(Instructions to a disciple)
1. Complacency, pride, Arrogance and self-importance Can be taken for the divine pride That appears at contemplation. Be attentive, don’t be confused!
2. Indulging passions-kleshas and
Lack of self-discipline
Can be taken for the practice of
Spontaneous total acceptance without choice, That leads perfectly
To the “One taste”. Be attentive!
3. Immature attachment to a personality Of a teacher can be taken for
The real devotion and
Guru-yoga that gives blessings
Of mind of all saints and Siddhis. Be attentive!
4. Limited insolence
And sectarian introversion Can be taken for the perfect
Keeping secrets and principles of samaya, Desire to keep purity and
Respect for the Teaching.
Be attentive!
5. Inactive staying in thoughtlessness Filled in with little bliss
Can be taken for the real
Void samadhi, liberating from
Birth and death. Be attentive!
6. Blindly following the rules
Of discipline, obsession by vows Without understanding their spirit Can be taken for uncompromising In the practice of Dharma, inherent To the ancient saints.
Be attentive!
7. Mind stuck in numb Thoughtlessness as a result of Long meditation of quietness Can be taken for the deep state Of sahaj-samadhi,
That gives real freedom.
Be attentive!
8. Inability to keep brahmacharya,
To live alone because of attachment, And inability to control the winds
And the channels can be taken for
The deep tantric practice with a partner. Be attentive!
9. Preoccupation by your own clarity That appears because of persistent Contemplation “I am” in a long retreat Can be easily taken for
The continuous support of presence. Be attentive!
10. Obstacles appearing
In dreams of secret Rudra
At yogis with little merits Can be taken for the blessings Of Guru and saint Siddhis. Be attentive!
11.Preoccupation by sansaric matters
And by mundane concerns as a result of
Distractions and attachments in this life
Can be easily taken for the spontaneous
Enlightened leela – play
With your qualities for the good of others. Be attentive!
12. Strained support of mental
Constructions, which constricts mind
To egg shell can be taken for
The effortless contemplation similar to the sky That is based on subtle
Intention – sankalpa.
Be attentive!
13. Juggling with quotes from
Holy books and with another’s words
About realization is like a try
To get food reflected in a mirror.
It can easily be taken for the real clarity
That appears as a result of a personal
Experience of Samadhi and contemplation practice. Be attentive!
14. Immature engagement by inner
States and childish desire
Of self-expression
Can be taken for the enlightened Inspiration and a play for the good of others Inherent to Siddhis.
Be attentive!
15. Desire to wander aimlessly back and forth Because of failure to
Self-discipline, lack of
Flexibility and difficult character
Can easily be taken for
The spontaneous dance of a saint Avadhuta that is like
A cloud or a dry leaf.
Be attentive!
16. Immature escape from mundane difficulties With the hope to live calm,
Careless monastic life
Can easily be taken for the deep
Real renunciation from all
The concerns and affairs of this life
For the sake of learning in a school of a Master And higher Liberation.
Be attentive!
17. An ordinary man seduced
By the demons which lost sobriety Of his mind can easily be taken for A saint madman – avadhuta Which is drunk on God.
Be attentive!
18. A well-read upstart that has been In India couple of times
And can juggle with
The quotes from the texts and say The words from the sacred books Can easily be taken for a real Spiritual teacher blessed by
Gods and Siddhis, that who Relies on his own
Inner experience of samadhi. Be attentive!
19. Tightness of mind and
Conditionality by conceptions
Caused by frozen ideas – stereotypes,
Inability to be in
Non-conceptual awareness
Beyond theories and words
Can easily be taken for respect to the Teaching And maintenance of the transmission line.
Be attentive!
20. Blind imitation of Teacher’s words Without understanding their meaning,
Immature copying of his actions
Can easily be taken for the real Studying And respect to the Teacher and the Teaching. Be attentive!
21. Youthful thirst for adventure and Seeking exotics in “ashrams”,
A wish to find a teacher because Others talk about it
Can easily be taken for the sincere Aspiration to Liberation from
The circle of birth and death.
Be attentive!
22. Attachment to the familiar way of life, Preoccupation by mundane
Dharmas and pleasures,
Inability to make real efforts
Can easily be taken for the spontaneous Total acceptance of any experience Inherent to an avadhuta, and life without Any choice inherent to the real
Master of tantra.
