Religion and philosophy

Religious tradition: Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism)

Darshana (system of philosophy): Vedanta

Sampradaya: Advaita Vedanta of Sri Adi Shankaracharya

Canonical texts:
Sacred texts included in the Triple Canon: Brahmasutra, Upanishads of the Mukhya canon, and Bhagavad Gita.

Монашеский орден: Джуна Акхара

The Jun Akhara Order is the largest and most influential one in India. 'Juna' means 'ancient', 'akhara' means 'assembly of spiritual authorities'. Bhagavan Dattatreya founded it, and Adi Shankaracharya reorganized it into the order of sannyasins.

There are 52 lines in the Juna Akhara order: 16 Puri lines, 14 Giri and another 13 Giri, 4 Bharati, 4 Saraswati and 1 Lama. In the Akhara, they recognize Tibetan lamas from the lineage of Padmasambhava, Guru Rinpoche.

Juna Akhara temples and ashrams are located throughout India, especially in traditional pilgrimage sites and northern India, at the foot of the Himalayas.

On February 9, 2010, a teacher from Russia, Swami Vishnudevananda Giri, was first accepted into the ancient monastic order Juna Akhara with the status of mahamandaleshvar. This high title is a sign of recognition of spiritual realization and outstanding achievements in spreading Sanatana Dharma.

In 2013, at the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, a European woman, Swamini Ananda Leela Giri, a disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda Giri, was admitted for the first time to the ancient monastic order Juna Akhara in the status of mahamandaleshwar.

The lineage of Succession: Swami Brahmananda

Swami Vishnudevananda Giri about his root Guru:

…Traditional training with the siddha, the avatar, begins, but it cannot end.

It lasts a lifetime and continues into subsequent lives.

My Teacher is Achintya Baba, Brahmananda Maharaj - the greatest among the Avadhuta siddhas who has achieved the light body.

I am delighted to have that immortal Guru, the embodied son of the Sun God - red Karna himself, whom I have - Avadhuta Achintya Baba, Paramahamsa Shivaprabhakar Siddha Yogi, Sri Guru Brahmananda, and with whom I have been in contact for many incarnations. My whole life is about following the Guru’s instructions and being in constant contact with him.

For 20 years (from 1987 to 2007) I received from Achintya Baba seven highest dikshas (initiations): Brahma-diksha, Samarasya-diksha, Avadhuta-sannyasa-diksha, Guru-yoga-diksha, Jyoti-rupa-diksha, Shaktipatha- diksha, Sahajya-diksha, and more than 60 darshans, including Vidyadhara darshan, Viveka darshan, Sankalpa darshan, Yoga Nidra darshan, Jyoti darshan, Akasha darshan, Dhyana darshan, Dharana darshan, etc.
