World Community

The global community unites people belonging to Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) and practicing laya yoga under the guidance of the enlightened Master of Practical Advaita Swami Vishnudevananda Giri from many cities in Russia, as well as near and far abroad.

“Spiritual practice, spiritual culture, Dharma practice are possible when there is a spiritual community, when there are community values and community culture. Because the community is the body of Dharma, that's why we call it the third jewel, the third treasure. With the help of the Vedic community of the Aryans, we can jointly create a new spiritual, cultural reality. This is the tool to create it. It cannot be created alone, by two or three people. It is a product of collective co-creation.

The purpose of life in the community, the existence of a community culture is the reconstruction of the sacred Divine reality in the surrounding world and its maintenance.

The community is the sacred body of the Absolute, it is the descent of the blessings of the saints on this world of earthly reality. It is a blessing, a darshan, and a shaktipatha is a transmission of power. Depending on how our community develops as a collective mind, this transfer of power may take place to a greater or lesser extent. For a young inexperienced soul who is just choosing the path to Wisdom, this is just as important as for a mature sadhu who devotes his whole life to meditation.

When we practice, it is very important not to focus on ourselves, our personal goals, but to learn to live by collective goals, getting rid of attachments to the ego.

Now another era is coming. The world change that has been talked about so much lately is really coming. The era of selfish individualists, asuric lone players, people disconnected from each other, from themselves and the world, the era of lone wolves professing the corresponding philosophy is leaving. The philosophy of individualism, egocentrism is being replaced by the paradigm of unity, cooperation, the priorities of the collective mind over the individual ego. The world is becoming a single cosmic community.

Not immediately, but it will certainly be as if all of humanity is awakening and changing, revising its worldview, clearing itself in order to free itself from its ego and reunite with the world megamind, Parabrahman. Mankind is gradually emerging from the cradle of its mind, realizing its destiny - to serve the universal whole, the universe, and not just to satisfy its whims. This is a natural, stage in the life of mankind. It is due to the passage of time. The world becomes a single global network, a single intelligent being, a single organism, a single substance, a single megamind, a mandala.

My blessings that you also increase your understanding of the importance of community values, community culture. Your potential can be multiplied a hundredfold, a thousandfold, if you act together as a collective mind, serve not only yourself, your individuality, a small group, but set goals to serve all of humanity.

Often we read the words "for the benefit of all living beings." This should be understood in such a way that the path to enlightenment is always going beyond the limits of individuality, beyond the limits of personality. A selfish person seeking personal, separate happiness is a person who loses an adequate connection with Being, the Universe, God.

Our task is to understand this and start by awakening trust. Trust is the samaya bond between disciples, members of the same community. I can talk a lot about community values and community culture, but I encourage you to think for yourself, reflect on this, and try to develop such values and culture within your group.

I want to give you a blessing so that your group, Dharma center, community, as a small collective mind, develops, grows and sets goals that surpass itself. These are the goals of enlightenment and enlightenment of mankind. So that you look at the world through the eyes not of your narrow "I", but look with a broader vision.

What does humanity need? What do not I need, but others? When you start asking such questions, you will see how narrowly you thought, how unimportant your small goals are compared to those global energies, forces that exist in the world and in the universe. And you may become afraid to take responsibility for it. But it will. Where to go? Spiritual growth is always an exit to a new level of responsibility.

First you are responsible for yourself, one person, then you have the wisdom to take responsibility for two, three people, for a family. Then you can take responsibility for a group, for a large community. And then the community and you in this community can take responsibility for the development of the nation. Then the nation can take responsibility for the development of the country, and then within the country you can take responsibility for the evolution of all mankind. Then you may think that all living beings are objects of your service and your concern. Thus the soul grows on the path of transcendence of the personal ego. From your individual mind to the collective mind. From one collective mind, to a larger collective mind. This is the way of knowing that you are one with the universal whole, with Parabrahman.

It is impossible to say "I am Brahman" as a small person, ego, because Brahman is the universal collective megamind. When we say that we are Brahman, we will have to include in ourselves, both in our consciousness and in our body, all living beings, and learn to live for all living beings. We will have to revise our values and goals again and again, think more broadly, more globally again and again, sacrifice our individual goals somewhere, integrate universal goals – this is the spiritual path.

Swami Vishnudevananda Giri

To implement the plans of the Community, was created the Arruppadai movement, whose members are engaged in selfless service for the benefit of spreading the Dharma. Practicing lay people in various cities unite in groups for collective practice and Dharmic activities, and create Dharma centers.

The community helps to organize yoga darshans of Swami Vishnudevanand Giri and practical classes for his monastic students, holds regular classes for the laity, as well as retreats for an in-depth program for students.

“Sanatana Dharma considers the path to God, the spiritual evolution of not only a person, but of the whole society, of all mankind as a whole, and of the entire Universe. Saints of the Vedic tradition have repeatedly substantiated this path of evolution. First of all, Sanatana Dharma should bring the common good to all mankind in the way that the saints understand it, interpret the sacred texts. There is such a term “loka-sangraha”, that is, the general good, when everyone spiritually flourishes, everyone develops spiritually. When everyone spiritually prospers and develops, then materially humanity also prospers. It was the need to convey the idea of the common good of “loka-sangraha” that the idea of holding forums and congresses arose. We also have the Arruppadai movement, which translates as "universal enlightenment." This term was introduced by the holy sages of antiquity, the Siddhas, and means that the Dharma, spreading on earth for all mankind, must inevitably lead to universal spiritualization and enlightenment. It is possible, and that is why we set such goals.”
