Step 1 after accepting the Creed

After accepting the Creed, take time to do the preliminary practices before beginning the basic practices:

1. During the first year, one should learn the philosophy of the Doctrine from the texts:

- "Tripura Rahasya",

- "Yoga Vasishtha,"

- "Viveka Chudamani" by Sri Adi Shankaracharya,

- Swami Vishnudevananda Giri's books ("Shining Precious Mysteries" 1, "Shining Precious Mysteries" 2, " Universe of The Jnani", "Source of Consciousness", "My Life in God", "Dharma Vessel" 1, "Dharma Vessel" 2)

2. To study the daily practices - "Sutra" and "Bhajan Mandala", altar worship, and Arati.

3. To recite mantras from one to seven rounds a day:

- To Shiva - "OM NAMAH SHIVAYA."

- To Dattatreya - "OM DRAM DATTATRAYA NAMAHA".

4. Start practicing Sandhya Upasana.

5. To learn how to take consecrated food - prasad.

6. To observe the precepts of Yama-Niyama and to prepare for the acceptance of karma-sannyasa Diksha (Grihastha Diksha).

REQUIREMENTS: After completing the preliminary practices, the seeker should read once the texts: "Yoga Vasishtha" and "Tripura Rahasya" and write a Treatise, "The Qualities of a Disciple in Tradition."

The preliminary practice's task is to form a sadhu's worldview for life. After mastering the primary approaches, one can go on to the basic methods.
