Shivadatta Satchidananda Ashram

Shivadatta Satchidananda Ashram (Mauna Ashram) was created in 2017 with the blessing of the Guru by his disciple Swamini Ananda Leela Giri. The most significant difference from other community ashrams is the preservation of mouna within the ashram itself, communication only by notes, and not using electronic devices. The routine also differs from the usual ashram routine in deepening the practice and meditation. In 2018, a mandir dedicated to Shiva was installed on the territory of the ashram, and in 2020 - a mandir for Ganesha and Lakshmi-Narayana.

Now the mahant of the ashram is the sannyasi (nun) Swamini Satya Tejasi Giri.

An ashram is the center of the spiritual life of a Vedic or tantric community, where initiations and transmissions are given, yoga classes, meditation for spiritual seekers, and collective practices on special days. An ashram is a spiritual school, a place of tapas, gatherings of sadhus, a center for serving the Dharma — a place where sacred sacraments and services are held.

Pure and favorable spiritual energy accumulates in the ashram. This is where ancient saints’ secret teachings are kept and inner alchemy secrets are passed on from teacher to student. Ashrams are home to permanently renounced sadhu-sannyasis and those who, in the future, strive to become sannyasi-brahmachari. Spiritual seekers can visit ashrams.

Sometimes, ashrams are visited in the subtle body by famous holy sages who lived in past eras, or even gods, to instruct through the subtle body or give darshan, their blessing. In the ashram, the soul of the seeker-disciple undergoes essential lessons in the spiritual life of purity, faith, devotion, karma yoga, philosophy, concentration, meditation, service for the benefit of Dharma and humanity, renunciation of ego desires, pacification of the mind. All those living in ashrams adhere to special rules of yama-niyama, taking into account differences in status and obligations (vrata) - some for their entire life and others only for the duration of their stay in the ashram. Ashram is “vidya” - the manifested body of the chosen deity, the saints of the parampara and sampradaya (tree of Refuge), and the root Guru - mula-guru-acharya. Ashram is Divine grace itself, giving freedom to the soul and taking the form of a place where they live and serve the Dharma and their Guru.
